kids

These are the 8th graders i helped my aunt Wren teach art to over the course of the last school year.
before they graduated, i had them sit for me one by one, drew their profiles, and made black cutouts of them. i also took a picture of each of them...but to their consternation :)
i'm putting up 12 of the pictures because they just make me really happy. all their different faces and spirits. how corny am i?? jeesh
there is cam in the first one, of course...

dang it, i'm going to miss the kids so much.

Here is a picture of the majority of the profiles...
i'm really glad a lot of them will be going to Maranatha in the fall, because then i'll get to see them.

my beautiful muses...Edan and Ashlee...

don't laugh

what makes me happy about this last one, is that Ashlee totally wasn't meaning to stand like she did in the painting. :)

taking a break...

i just finished painting # 2 for a series of 3...due tomorrow! yes! i'm gonna start # 3 when i'm finished with this.

first things first...look at how beautiful it was at home on Saturday...

there's nothing like a Pasadena sunset on the mountains in the winter...

Alec putting finishing touches on our Christmas CD...

Monday was my first day of finals...complete with a 6-hour critique in portraiture. i turned in my painting of Joey and Caid, brought a picture of a life-sized figure drawing i'm doing, and 2 in-progress paintings of my grandma (which are 2 of the 3 due tomorrow but Betty wanted me to bring them anyway...)

some of my friends' work...

Mike (and Phil's on the far right)...

Sarah and Robin's...

Krystyl's...

starving students...

(when i showed them these pictures they all laughed because they said they look homeless...)

lunchtime...Krystyl got pizza lunchables...yum...? she thinks so...

critiquing...

Christian and Mike had multiple laugh attacks in Professional Studies that night. at least they were in the back row...i was in the front. and i kept laughing at them laughing. so i spent a lot of that class with a really creepy looking grin on my face because i was trying not to burst out into goggles. i mean, giggles.

today the ocean was amazing...

i went by the store and this dog in the car next to mine was super excited to see me. the owner walked up as i was petting him and said he had separation anxiety.

i may post on another break later. i've got to get back to work...

vater und sohn

So here is the best picture i have of the painting i did for Joey...i have a few touch-ups to do but it's pretty much done. Caid's hand is close to the most difficult thing i have ever painted. have you ever painted a baby's hand?? it's like trying to make little sausages look like fingers. i'm excited to start another painting because i learned a lot doing this one and i want to experiment and try a few more things.

I started a new big drawing, too...so i'm also revved up for that.

today i dropped all my work at my gallery and filled out consignment forms and get the pricing all done and tomorrow i;m going over there to help hang the show...which is on Thursday. i'm so terrified.

so school is going well!

everything else, though...i don't know what God is doing. Lord what are You working on? when will i know what direction to face...?

i have to get to class at 2.

more pictures later, hopefully.
